IFRS Media and Entertainment

This week, on Wednesday July 9, Ernst & Young is hosted a webcast on IFRS conversion in the media and entertainment industry. I tuned in and found it both useful and interesting. It was announced that 850 people were registered. IFRS is becoming a very hot topic in the USA. The media and entertainment industry is global and there are many competitors that report under IFRS.

The session offered an overview of SEC developments, IFRS differences with US GAAP for media and entertainment companies, an assessment of the impact of IFRS on the financial results of those companies, an assessment of the non-accounting issues and a view from the EU. Although the session was for a US audience I believe that it would be valuable for Canadians as well.

The session is being archived and will be on their site shortly.

You will be asked to fill out a registration form on line but the webcast is open to non-clients of E&Y.

The E&Y Thought Center offers CPE credits if a session is watched live and certain criteria are met.
